Meeting challenging hygiene standards

The Spektron Industrial models are specifically designed to meet the most stringent disinfection requirements of the food and beverage industry. The vessel’s inner surface, aseptic connections and solid stainless-steel cabinet are features that ensure a high level of quality and consistency in taste and appearance. The systems are also suitable for sensitive applications in pharmaceutical and microelectronics industries.

Extensively tested and sustainable

The Wedeco Spektron Industrial system range is based on Xylem’s Wedeco Spektron technology, a proven, energy-efficient UV solution for the disinfection of drinking water, process water, and other high UV transmittance liquids, with more than 2,000 installed systems worldwide. The Wedeco Spektron drinking water UV systems have also been extensively tested to meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s UV Disinfection Guidance Manual (USEPA’s UVDGM, 2006) and certified to the German DVGW and Austrian ONORM standards.

High efficiency and adaptability

The sensor-controlled OptiDose monitors operating conditions in real time, including flow, UV transmittance, and UV intensity. Then, with proven control logic, OptiDose adjusts the energy consumption to the minimum needed to meet dosing requirements. No assumptions are made regarding process parameters, ensuring cost savings and disinfection confidence at all times.

For improved economics and maximum sustainability, Spektron units employ Wedeco low-pressure, high-output, amalgam Ecoray UV lamps, and ballasts. Used in combination with the variable power option, the Ecoray technology results in excellent energy efficiency under all operating conditions. Particularly in dimmed mode, they realize average energy savings of up to 20% compared to existing technologies. The Ecoray lamp also has higher energy efficiency compared to medium pressure lamps, further reducing energy costs. Thanks to reduced mercury content, Ecoray lamps are also more stable and sustainable – an environmentally friendly feature of Spektron units that can help reduce the carbon footprint. Ecoray UV lamps come with a lamp life guarantee up to 14,000 hours, reducing lamp maintenance.

The Spektron Industrial UV systems offer four different sizes, allowing adaptation to the customer’s flow range. The Wedeco Spektron UV systems maximize operator usability with minimum maintenance. The EcoTouch controller unifies all sensor signals, alarms, SCADA connectivity, and OptiDose closed loop control for easy monitoring and control.

Extensively tested and sustainable

The Wedeco Spektron series is a proven, energy-efficient UV solution for the disinfection of drinking water, process water, and other high UV transmittance liquids, with more than 2,000 installed systems worldwide. Xylem’s Wedeco Spektron UV systems have also been extensively tested to meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s UV Disinfection Guidance Manual (USEPA’s UVDGM, 2006) and certified to the German DVGW and Austrian ONORM standards. The extensive validation allows for proven disinfection performance for a wide variety of pathogens, including parasites (e.g. Cryptosporidium and Giardia), bacteria (e.g. E. coli, Salmonella typhi, Vibrio cholerae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and viruses (e.g. Poliovirus, Norovirus, and Rotavirus). More than 99.99% of all pathogens can be rendered harmless in a fraction of a second without affecting the taste or odor of the water.

As a purely physical disinfection solution and 100% chemical free, UV does not carry the risk of forming harmful by-products, such as trihalomethanes (THMs) and haloacetic acids (HAAs). In addition, the Spektron automatic wiping system works without chemical cleaning additives.

UV technology is safer for your employees, your community, and the environment. UV disinfection eliminates the risks associated with on-site storage and handling of hazardous chemicals, keeping your treatment plant and the surrounding community protected from accidental leaks.

Additionally, the sensor-controlled OptiDose monitors operating conditions in real time, including flow, UV transmittance, and UV intensity. Then, with proven control logic, OptiDose adjusts the energy consumption to the minimum needed to meet dosing requirements. No assumptions are made regarding process parameters, ensuring cost savings and disinfection confidence at all times.

Ozone (o3) Generator

Effective and low-cost eZee-Solutions for water and air treatment applications

Whether you are looking for a home water treatment product or need expert advice on treating a difficult wastewater, chances are we have the product or process you are looking for. If not, we will work with you to custom design the required system.

Ozone products

Residential

Producing high-quality drinking water from virtually any source such as well water, surface water, or even municipal water is our specialty.

Commercial

The powerful oxidative and disinfecting properties of ozone render it very useful in a number of commercial applications ranging from air treatment, water bottling, waste water treatment.

Industrial

Let us know your water treatment application, water analysis and desired objective and we will custom build a system to meet your budget and space requirements.

Muincipal

Design and supervise installation of turn-key municipal drinking water treatment plants. At the heart of these treatment systems are our patented ozone generators.

1. What is Ozone?

Ozone is a very active form of oxygen. It is formed when oxygen is exposed to a high-energy field causing some oxygen molecules (O2) to break down into oxygen atoms (O). The oxygen atoms (O) then react with the oxygen molecules (O2) to form ozone (O3). Notice that this is a reversible reaction meaning that ozone can decompose back to oxygen.

2. Is ozone found in nature?

Yes, ozone is formed by lightning.
In nature, ozone is produced by the action of lightning on the oxygen found in the air. The formation of ozone leads to the fresh smell that you find outside after a lightning storm. One type of ozone generator, known as the corona discharge type, mimics this natural process in its ozone generating cells.
Yes, ozone is found in the Earth’s stratosphere.

Also, the ozone layer found in the upper stratosphere protects the earth’s surface from harmful UV rays. UV rays cleave oxygen molecules into oxygen atoms which recombine to form ozone. UV rays also excite ozone molecules causing them to breakdown to oxygen to begin the cycle again. In this way, the energy of the UV rays is absorbed by the “ozone layer” protecting the Earth’s surface from their harmful effects. UV-type ozone generators mimic this natural process.

3. What can ozone be used for?

The very reactive nature of ozone makes it the ideal oxidant for air and water treatment. Ozone will:

  • destroy bacteria and viruses
  • precipitate heavy metals (example iron and manganese) allowing them to be filtered
  • eliminate color from water (for example, like the yellowish color caused by tannin)
  • remove rotten egg smell from water (caused by hydrogen sulfide)
  • Oxidize organic compounds to form compounds that can be easily flocculated and filtered or to form water (H2O) and carbon dioxide (CO2).
  • eliminate bad odors from the air

Applications include pool & spa treatment, home drinking water treatment, irrigation water treatment, smoke odor elimination from the air, seafood storage… the list goes on and on.
The collage below shows but a few areas where ozone has been used successfully to improve water and air quality and to improve industrial processes.

4. What happens to unreacted ozone?

Unreacted ozone converts back to oxygen – leaving behind no harmful by-products!

eZee-03 water treatment system

Proven solution and safe, ozone is recognized as the most eco-friendly and natural bacterial deactivator available, and also the fastest and most powerful.

Ozone is created from oxygen (O2), which becomes ozone (O3) and then reverts back to oxygen (O2) after a few minutes in ambient air.

Great for cooling tower, Ozone is a powerful disinfectant, deodorizer, and air purifier, ozone kills bacteria like legionella 3,000 times faster than chlorine. It is unrivaled in controlling numerous types of bacteria, including, E. coli, Legionella and fecal coliforms as well as deactivating viruses, fungi, and mildew. Ozone also eliminates organic odors and contaminants in the workplace. Ozone is safe to use, is non-carcinogenic, and produces no residues or toxic by-product.
